<sub>It was Luck's first show. He had incredible talent, but had never been in the horse show environment. At home he was distractable--anyone would guess a show would be worse.

Caroline stroked the gelding's nose. He was tacked and ready early. His ears were constantly swiveling in different directions, his head held high, very on edge. Megan hobbled over from the food cart holding a plate with an omelet on it. Caroline grabbed a piece of it and held it in front of Luck. "Wanna fuel up?" She asked him. There was no response, his entire being was still focused on all of the commotion around him.

"Hey," Megan said, stepping closer to him, "She asked you if you wanted food. FUEL UP, BITCH!" She shouted, shoving the plate in Luck's face. He screamed and jumped backwards, tearing the reins from Caroline's hands. He snorted, the whites of his eyes showing, looking down at Megan. Caroline ran up and grabbed the reins.
"What the fuck are you doing?" Caroline asked, stroking the nervous horse.
"He was being a shit," Megan replied.
"No, he didn't want the food. What the hell is wrong with you? Never, ever, treat one of my horses like that again." She said sternly.
"They're not yours, idiot." Megan retorted.
"Oh, so you think Hannah would approve of what just happened?"
"They don't belong to you," Megan replied.
